From 21st august 2023, new trucks and buses are equipped with Smart2 (Gen2v2) tachographs; new Smart2 driver cards have also be issued. Smart2 (Gen2v2) Tachographs and Driver cards require a compatible download tool. All Digidown units manufactured from July 2023 are Smart2 (Gen2v2) ready. All devices are backwards compatible with previous generations of Tachographs. Units purchased after July 2019 are eligible for a free software update that adds Smart2 (Gen2v2) compatibility. Use the guide below to check your devices compatibility;

To check the compatibility of your device, compare the units serial number -found on the back of the device- against the following list:

Remember that your current unit will still download data from older Cards & Tachographs.
If your unit is not compatible with new Driver Cards, Gen2 or Smart2 (Gen2v2) Tachographs, You will need to buy a new Digidown Product. This will also be fully compatible with your older Cards & Tachographs.

Step 2 > Update your Digidown

If your unit requires an update to work with Gen2 or Smart2 (Gen2v2) Tachographs, the update process is quick and simple. You'll only need the unit, a computer running Windows and the USB cable that came with the unit. Follow these steps:

• Download the Digidown Update Tool from the link below.
• Unzip the downloaded file.
• Double click to run the unzipped file.
• Follow the instructions on screen.
• If you encounter any problems, try:
• Before running the unzipped file, disable your antivirus (typically achieved by right-clicking the antivirus icon on the tray and selecting the Disable option.
• Running the unzipped file as an adminisrator (by right-clicking the file and selecting 'Run as administrator').
