1. Prerequisites
1. Check if the DLLs of the application you are using are in the execution directory. You can do this by finding any .DLL file in the application folder.
Yes: Continue with the next step – 2. Install Hyper Driver in App local folder
No or Not sure: Skip the next step and continue with step – 3. Permissions
2. Install Hyper Driver in App local folder
1. Download and unzip the Hyper Driver:
2. Replace the WinSCard.dll file with one downloaded.
3. Ensure you use the correct architecture 32bit or 64bit.
4. Test the system. Did it work?
Yes: Excellent. Stop this guide and enjoy your system!
No: Continue with the next step – 3. Permissions
3. Change Permissions
You will need to change permissions on the default Windows Winscard.dll in order to replace it with the Hyper Driver version. You must be logged in to Windows with admin rights and carry out the below steps for both:
a. C:\Windows\System32\WinSCard.dll and
b. C:\Windows\SysWOW64\WinSCard.dll
1. Navigate to the directory in file explorer and find 'WinSCard.dll'
2. Right click to show the context menu and select properties
3. Click on the security tab then click ‘Advanced’
4. Click on ‘Change’ (this is located next to ‘Owner’)
5. In the window (under ‘Enter the object name to select’), type: “Administrators”, then click on ‘Check Names’. The computer will list the administrators for this PC. Choose and click on ‘OK'.

6. Upon return to the previous screen, click ‘Apply’ and ‘OK’
7. Now, back at the WinSCard.dll Properties screen, click ‘Edit’
8. Click to highlight on the Administrators option in the ‘Group or user names’ window, then click to tick the ‘Allow’ box for ‘Full Control’. Then click ‘OK’
9. Windows Security will warn you that changing these permissions may reduce the security of your computer. You need to click ‘Yes’ to continue.
10. Click ‘OK’ on the WinSCard.dll properties box.
4. Rename Original Driver
1. Rename WinSCard.dll. This can be anything, we recommend WinSCard.dll.bak.
5. Install Hyper Driver in Windows System folders
1. Download the Hyper Driver:
2. Copy the files into:
a. C:\Windows\System32\WinSCard.dll and
b. C:\Windows\SysWOW64\WinSCard.dll
Troubleshooting
If you are having trouble after installing the driver, please try the following:
1. Stop any application which uses the winscard.dll (i.e any app that requires the smart cards).
2. Download and run the diagnostic application here.
3. If the driver is working correctly, you will see your smart cards listed. Otherwise please verify the installation steps above.
